All doctors who wish to become GPs have to spend twelve months of their post-graduate training in a practice which has been approved as a training practice. The Tutbury Practice has been approved since 1989 and this means we have trainee doctors working with us for 6 months or sometimes over a year at a time. They have a lot of hospital experience but need to learn more about medicine in the community. You may be offered an appointment with a doctor whose name you do not recognise, if so please be reassured that he or she is a fully qualified doctor and that you will be properly cared for. We may also request that a consultation is videoed to enable the registrar to obtain feedback from one of our Doctors. You will be asked prior to your appointment if you are happy to have your consultation videoed and you are under no obligation.
We also teach medical students and take them from both Nottingham and Derby University, they range from 1st to 5th year and they spend a single day, week or month with us.
